If you haven’t heard the term before, you’re probably wondering what an Online Business Manager is. The official definition of an Online Business Manager (OBM) is:
A virtually based support professional who manages online based businesses, including the day-to-day management of projects, operations, team members and metrics.
Personally, I like to look at the role of an OBM as freeing up the business owner, so they can focus on growing their business and become the Chief Executive Officer instead being the Chief Everything Officer.
My clients include business owners with online-based as well as brick & mortar-based businesses. When these business owners reach the point at which they can no longer successfully handle everything on their own, they hire an OBM to look after their day-to-day operations and implement systems to provide structure in their business which could ultimately provide them with the scalability required to continue to grow their business in a sustainable manner. These day to day activities include leading teams, managing projects, developing systems and processes, marketing, social media, metrics, planning and more…
A sizable number of these business activities can be frustrating for many entrepreneurs. A main reason most entrepreneurs started their business was to share their gifts and talents with the world, not be bogged down in operations management. A certified Online Business Manager is a trained professional with specialized business and management expertise who will utilize their skills and expertise to share their gifts and talents of support, order, and structure to lead their clients to success and to make sure, as a business owner, you are managing your business instead of your business managing you!
